What do you think of this gaming PC build?
im on a budget and im building this pc for my brother
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
CPU Cooler: Asus Silent Square EVO
MOBO: Asus Maximus II Formula
HD: Samsung Spinpont F1 Sata II 750gb 32mb
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB Kit DDR2 1066mhz
VIDEO: Two pieces of Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 Crossfire mode
PSU: Antec Truepower Quattro 850w
That’s a nice pc, too bad there aren’t very many games that can make full use of it.
Only thing I would suggest is changing the GPU to a PNY, one of the GeForce 8800 models, which are significantly more powerful than ATI cards
If that involves extra cost, downgrade the cpu to a dual-core rather than the quad-core (which from Intel is really a dual-dual core, unless they’ve finished their true quad-cores yet). I don’t believe there’s any significant improvement in a game from having a quad-core over a dual-core. Unless you’re running lots of other applications at the same time, maybe. The gpu counts for more.
That’s good fast RAM, but 2gb of even faster RAM might be better for the same price.
Finally what about the monitor? It would be a waste to build a good gaming pc and then spend all your time hunched over a little screen till your back is killing you and your neck cramps up. How about a 24 inch HDCP-ready, you can get them for under $300 these days.
