How much does it take to replace a motherboard on a Sony laptop Viao?

My mom’s laptop stopped working, so we took it to a place that can fix them. They said the motherboard went out and that it would be 500.00 to replace. Does this sound accurate?

Sounds accurate. But for that price it would be better to buy a new one.
