What is the recommended GHz on a laptop for an art major?

My daughter is going to college this fall as an Art major specializing in 2D/3D Animation. She wants to buy a 13in Macbook Pro but she can’t decide whether to buy the cheaper one with 2.3 GHz or the one with 2.7 GHz for about $300-$500 more.

Short answer: 2.7ghz. Long answer/explanation below…

When buying a 13″ macbook pro, the processor speed doesnt matter as much as the type of processor. If you look closely the 2.3 GH one is an i5 and the 2.7 GH is an i7. The 13″ macbooks have integrated graphics which means that they are built into the processor. I would buy the 2.7 GH model because the integrated graphics on the i7 are better than the graphics on the i5. Graphics wouldnt really matter with 2d animation because it isn’t very graphics-intensive. What makes me say that you should get the higher speed one is the 3d modeling; 3d models are very graphics-intensive and need much more graphics power to process.
