The Best Way to Ship a Custom Computer
It is inherently difficult to ship most custom computer due to many factors. First, they are heavy and generally large. Second they usually have more complex internals such as multiple graphics cards, large CPU coolers and liquid cooling. If you have ever tried shipping a system of this nature in a standard shipping container i.e. box or crate. You know how damage the container and eventually its contents may become. IT is important to ship your system in a container that is but strong and reusable.
Using a Pelican case or like case is a great solution. Pelican cases are made of rugged plastic and have a soft foam insert that is moldable by removing small foam squares. Most Pelican cases also offer a wheel and handle configuration similar to what you might find on a typical luggage setup. The cases are water tight, float and are lockable (remember to use TSA locks).
When we ship systems we almost always use a pelican case. So far we have never had a damaged system while shipping in such a case. One thing we like most about the pelican cases is their ability to store the computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset. This make it a great setup when LAN gaming. You can just pack all of your equipment and keep it safe. You can also lock it up if you decide to step out temporarily.
Another great reason to use such a great case is the fact that computers need service or may need to be moved. This provides the best protection when shipping your system back and forth for RMA or when moving to keep the system from becoming damaged.
