How expensive and how difficult is it to build a gaming computer?

I recently asked a question about how quickly computers become obsolete, and most answers recommended, instead of buying a computer, to build one my own.

In relation to simply buying an Alienware/etc., how much will it cost?

Secondly, how difficult is it??? If I buy the requisite parts, will there be ‘shelves’ inside the body for me to place core components on? Is it difficult to ensure necessary cooling? Is it highly likely for a beginner to mess this up?

well to start off, for a really nice gaming rig youll need about $4000. But thats for top of the line stuff its all about what you want to put in it.
Alienware is very nice and im using mine right now and its worth every penny but i am also building a pc. In order to build a pc its really not to difficult to put it together.
For a beginner there is so many thing that can go wrong so I highly recommend watching some tutorials online like from youtube. and then you should be ready. its really a no sweat.
