What is the best computer to use for Photoshop CS4 and Video Editing?

Hi everyone, well it’s 2010 and a lot of new computers have come out since 09′. I am ready to purchase a new model that will allow me to work flawlessly on Photoshop CS4 while being able to search for photos on my web browser (google chrome and firefox) without any lagging. My current system does this, lags. (Windows Xp Media Center HP Pavilion a1240n/200gig hd/2gig of ram) Time to upgrade. I am sticking with a PC unless someone can really persuade me to go with a Mac. I also edit videos and burn DVD’s using my Pioneer Qflix MultiRecorder which is magnificent. So do I stick with a HP Pavilion with 64bit and more RAM? Or do I build my own and if so which chip set would you suggest, etc…

Thanks for your help! I do a ton of digital artwork and am ready to move forward with my skills but need a computer system to take it to the next level. My budget is around $1,300 and I’m looking at a tower, not a laptop.

I use a MacBook Pro, but not necessarily for Video Editing. I use it for the CS4 Design Premium.
However, it’s common knowledge that the typical Windows OS and interface was originally designed by Apple, then adapted by Windows. As my art instructor always told me — when it comes to design (including video and graphics), “you get what you pay for”. If you want something in the low price range, the quality will fall into the same range. Though I need to upgrade from my measly 2gb RAM and 250gb hard drive, I love my Mac. I love even the tech support–the only accent I’ve heard when calling tech support is Texan. With my Nvidia GeForce 9400M, each pixel is crisp, clear and beautiful. I love my Mac. I love the quiet automatic Time Machine backup. I love the apps. I love the customizable interface (from the dock to the icons, to folders, to the nit-picky things like the way it displays my list of applications from the dock). I love the AirPort wireless where I can wirelessly connect my laptop to my non-wireless printer on the first floor.

I love my Mac. It’s industry standard, and there shouldn’t have to be an explanation.
