What OS should i get for a custom build computer?

I’m going to build a custom computer, 8gigs of ram, 2 500gb hard drives, a 3.2 AMD dual core, and a 512mg video card, what OS should i get, (i hate vista, but i have it on my computer now, and it PO’s me) all help is accepted, and enjoyed ^-^

There is a very easy point to make about Windows versions…
XP only recognizes 4 gb of ram.
If you want to use all that 8 gigs, you need Vista.
Vista is also better for some gaming as it has more modern support for video than XP.

If it not for gaming or you can live with 4 gb, go for XP Pro for sure.

I just set one up for someone and he went with the 4gb ram and two 500 gb hdd, 2 dual core 3gb processors on a SLI board.
Go with that and you can put two PNY 8500GTs in and SLI them together.

make sure to have lots of fans, a big power supply and maybe even the liquid cooling system

9 Things Need to Be Considered When Building Your Own Computer

It is a great idea of planning to build your own computer. And if you can follow these simple guidelines, things will become much easier.

1. The first thing is that you should make your workstation with enough room and good lighting. Whether you decide to use it, make sure putting things all in their order. And you can use newspapers to avoid scratches. It may easily for the PC cases and their components to scratch the table, because it always has sharp metal points. 3. When you handling the components for your PC, you should keep all of them in the packaging that with anti-static function, because the static electricity will destroy the parts easily, especially the ones that you do not use at present time.

4. To read the manual of every computer assembly parts is necessary; to make sure you are putting it in the right place. Treat your components gently. You should know that all the components can only go one way, so if you can not get it, just bring it out, then check the manual, make sure you in the right place.

5. Take the time to read the manual provided for each component, and then tried to install. And eventually, this can save you a lot of time.

6. Do not discard your packaging and receipt after you use the components. There will be few chances happened, I you may have a wrong item, so you need to change them to a right one. And also, when you want to upgrade your components, with the same applies; you may find it become much better to sell again.

7. There will be some extra screws and cables for some Computer Assembly Parts, do not throw them away, just keep it in “spare parts” cases. You may do not need them at present time. However, you would be surprised how often you would need to look for them in later days.

8. There are a lot of changes that will find it is difficult for you to install a drop screw, so a magnetic screwdriver is a great tool you should own.

9. After assembly, it is very import to check all cables connected very well. It can be very easy for the cable to get loose when working on different components.
